MSB Reading Challenge

The MSB Reading Challenge will begin when we return from spring break.  You all should have received your signs to hang in your classrooms to start your reading chains.

Just to clarify… you will add a link to your chain for every 10 minutes of reading in your classroom.  You do not add links by number of students, but by your classroom minutes.  After many teachers expressed concerns over the fairness of this competition, we decided to have a winner from each department.  Each of those teachers will be recognized for their achievement, and the names of those teachers will be entered into a drawing for a pizza party/icecream party/doughnut party for their students.

In your mailboxes, I also gave each of you an invitation to our first Breakfast Study Group.  We will discuss Reading Across the Content Areas on Wednesday, 3/28 during Zero Hour.  A very light breakfast will be served, and you will receive ready-to-use reading strategies and activities for your classroom.  If you would like to attend, please let me know so I have enough materials.

I’m excited for this challenge!  Some teachers are already preparing for increasing their classes’ reading time, so you all better be prepared for a fierce competition!

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you need any help or ideas!
